DO YOU HAVE PUBLIC SPEAKING

ANXIETY?

YOU’RE NOT ALONE!

Kristen Devlin, an art therapy scholar at ESU, is offering an opportunity to participate in an art therapy research study:

Sunday, September 20

10:00 am -12:00 PM

At the Lawrence Public Library

Auditorium

Devlin will be studying the effects of art therapy on public speaking anxiety in adults. People who are interested agree to participate in one two-hour long session where they will complete an art therapy exercise focused on grounding and relaxation. A public speaking anxiety questionnaire will be given before and after the art therapy intervention. Any person over the age of 18 who has public speaking anxiety is welcome to sign up and participate if interested. This study will take place on Sunday, September 20 in Lawrence Kansas. Confidentiality and anonymity will be maintained throughout the study. Due to the nature of participating with a group we will discuss anonymity at the beginning of the session and participants won’t be asked to share any private information. Participants may however feel embarrassment associated with their public speaking anxiety. Signing up to participate does not guarantee selection in the study. This is an opportunity for people with public speaking anxiety to take part in a research study and engage in artmaking. Are you interested or know someone who might be? Please share this information and fill out the attached registration form.
